How To: Completing a Purchase

This is a short tutorial to help you purchase books, and other products such as maps, on the website.

Here are the steps you must take to complete a purchase. We will assume you haven’t yet found the book or product you were looking for, and that you are already registered on the website. While registering isn’t required to purchase, it allows you to revisit your purchase history, and, in the case of e-books, allows you to download your e-books after purchase.

Please note that the images below refer to the desktop version. The screens that you see on your mobile device might be a little different. The functionality, though, will remain the same.

So here we go:

a. Search for the book/product you are looking for. Once you find it, click on the listing and view its details.

Click on the Search icon 🔍 on the upper right of your screen.

Enter the term you are searching for. In this example, we searched for “Cuisine“. One or more options will appear. Scroll till you find the book you are looking for. We chose “Home Style Cuisine“. Click on its title. You will be taken to a page that has all the details of the book you were searching for.

b. Click on the “Add to basket” button, after you have reviewed the book details.

For this example, we chose 1 copy and clicked on the “Add to basket” button.

A button will appear that, upon clicking, will let you see what books you have chosen to purchase so far. If you have other purchases to make, you can make those purchases and click on the View Basket button later.

Alternately, you can choose to view the contents of your shopping basket (a list of items you have purchased) by placing your cursor on the shopping cart icon 🛒 on the upper right of your screen (see the image above). Doing so allows you to choose between two options: a) Viewing the contents of your cart or b) Proceed directly for payment.

c. Choose the option to “View Basket”. This option allows you to view a list of your purchases before actually paying for them. The page looks something like this. If you are absolutely sure that you have entered the correct address for delivery, you can click on Checkout. In this example, though, we will first click on “View Basket“.

There are a few things to note here:

1. You can choose to have the items gift wrapped for a small charge (upper left)
2. You can choose a shipping option that serves you best.
3. After reviewing your order, and choosing your shipping option, click on “Proceed to checkout”. Only if you are absolutely sure of the address you have posted, can you click on the payment buttons that are available.

d. Below are the details of the Checkout screen. Here is where you will enter your billing address, and a shipping address if it is a different one. Please ensure that you submit a proper address with a pin code and contact number.

Please enter your shipping details. The shipping options presented to you (in the pane on the right) will reflect any changes you make to your address. Choose an appropriate shipping mode, and review the costs. Then choose your preferred payment option and proceed to complete the transaction.

e. Please wait till the payment details are submitted, and you are presented with the order no. You should also receive an email at the email address you entered on  the previous screen.
