About the Contributors
The author is a naturalist, writer, educator and activist based in Chennai. His work revolves around bringing nature-education to children. He has spent many years developing curricula for nature-education in schools. He is the recipient of the M.Krishnan Memorial Naturewriting Award. His book A Naturalist's Journal is a collection of essays on countryside wilderness, and on his journey walking out of the school-college system to educate himself. He would like to thank Ashish Kothari for prodding him to write this book, Kamini Sundaram who is the Director of Abacus Montessori School and the Songlines farm-school which he is part of running. In his mind this story is set in their farm-school in Kanchipuram. He would also like to thank Tanya and Sujatha.
The illustrator is a visual artist from Pune. She enjoys connecting with the green spaces in the city through her sketches. She has created illustrations for children's books and adapted her illustrations to hand drawn animation for live story telling. Her independent practice of integrating her visual art skills of animation and illustration with her growing number of interests such as nature, music, design, education, systems, sustainable living, mental health and community, engages her in fulfilling collaborations with NGOs, independent musicians and educators. Creating illustrations for Saahi's Quest was a meditative and enjoyable process for her. It allowed her to stay in touch with nature during the months of lockdown due to the Coronavirus outbreak of 2020. She would like to thank Kalpavriksh and the author for adding value and inspiration to her journey as a creator through this project.
