Description

I’m Tracy Beaker have you heard of me? I’m stuck in The Dumping Ground just at the moment, but I’m sure my Mum will come and get me soon. A certain Justine-Hateful-Littlewood has stolen my best friend Louise but I don’t let it get me down. I never cry. Ever. I’ve done a bit of screaming and stamping in my time mind you. I like eating birthday cake. And Smarties and Big Macs with French fries and strawberry milkshakes. I also like story writing. This is a story all about me so I know you’ll enjoy it.

About the Author

Tracy Beaker says ‘Jacqueline grew up in Kingston. She didn’t have any brothers or sisters, but she always wanted some which I think is crazy, I’d much rather be an only child because that way you don’t have to share. She’s been writing books for years and years since she was nine. When she left home she went to work as a journalist and wrote for lots of different magazines, which sounds really fun to me. She used to write the answers to the problem pages and made up horoscopes. She even had a magazine named after her! My friend Cam says she used to read Jackie when she was young. Then Jacqueline started writing books and that’s when she became mega-famous. She’s written loads of stories and she’s won tons of awards, like the Smarties Prize, the Guardian Children’s Fiction Award and the British Children’s Book of the Year. She was the Children’s Laureate from 2005 to 2007, which means you’re a really super-duper important person where books for kids are concerned. She was even made into a Dame in 2008, by Her Majesty the Queen. Jacqueline still lives in Kingston and she has two cats, called Jacob and Thomas. Jacob’s almost as famous as Jacqueline these days.’
