A novel set in Goa, Portuguese India, in the late eighteenth century, Against the Tide …47 Men…. relates to events that occurred in that period of time.

The year is 1785 and Goa has already had two hundred years of Portugal’s colonial rule. Strong winds of change blow across the western world. In Lisbon, two dear friends and compatriots from Goa, José and Vitorino are most impressed by the principles of freedom that sweep across Europe. They decide to introduce them in their motherland and release their people from foreign bondage. For this they draw up a plan to overthrow the Portuguese rule in Goa.

José sails back to Goa with it. What is the plan? Bravery and courage come to the fore as intrigue and betrayals pursue.
