Still Waters: Short Stories from Goa is the sixth of a ongoing collection of Goan short stories. It is is a collection of twenty-three shortlisted works from the entries in Konkani, Marathi, Portuguese and English received at the Fundaçao Oriente Short Story Competition 2021. With six very successful editions, this competition aims to foster literary production and celebrate Goa’s cultural and linguistic diversity.
It is also the sixth of an ongoing series of Goan short story anthologies.
Like the still waters that cover its territory, Goa has a notorious quiet and gentle manner. As it is often the case, it also conceals a strong passionate nature that comes alive within these pages. By momentarily inhabiting the lives of its characters, you will laugh with them, weep with them, understand their trials and applaud when they battle the odds. More importantly, you will have a chance to understand the contemporary social and environmental struggles of India’s smallest state.
