About the Contributors

The author's interest in the natural world was catalysed by time spent in his school nature club and in travelling with his family. After training to become a mechanical engineer, he decided to change tracks. His first job was with a campaigning platform associated with the wildlife magazine, Sanctuary Asia. Since the past twenty years, he has been associated with the environmental group, Kalpavriksh, which has provided him an invaluable schooling in environmental and social justice issues. For two decades he has been a regular traveller to Northeast India and is fascinated by the region's rivers, wildlife and cultures. He has a keen interest in environmental laws, policies and governance. He is currently also an adviser to the environmental law firm, Lawyers Initiative for Forest and Environment. He enjoys reading. His current favourite theme being mind and body health. He is a student of the master’s course in Nalanda Buddhist Philosophy, a programme offered by Tibet House, New Delhi. He is based in Pune, India.

The illustrator has worked for over 20 years as a designer and sometimes a copywriter in the advertising industry, before she quit her job as a creative director to return to her first love fine-art and illustration.
