About the Author

Tara Narayan (nee Patel, born 17, November 1949) is an Indian journalist and poet, and was first noted as a Mumbai-based poet with her first collection of poetry titled Single Woman published by Rupa & Coin paperback in 1989. For a first collection the poetry won quite a bit of heartening reviews. She has worked as an editorial assistant, reporter and assistant editor for various publications in Mumbai which include Freedom First (published by Minoo Masani), Debonair, Mid-Day,The Afternoon Despatch & Courier and The Daily.

She was educated in Penang, Malaysia, where she spent her growing up years before coming to Mumbai in 1970. In later years she hitched herself to marriage and disappeared down the rabbit hole of Alice in Wonderland for more than two decades. She shifted residence to Panaji, Goa, in 2001, where she is both director and special correspondent for the political weekly Goan Observer edited by her husband Rajan Narayan.
