From one of the best university presses in India, comes a psychological portrait of all the insecurities and challenges of a young woman in a restless search for her own place in life. Translated from the original Italian, Thirsty Sea chronicles a day in the life of the protagonist who is haunted by her past, sidesteps her present, and is stalked by a future she is reluctant to meet. The book is written in different narrative modes – including poetry, comedy, memoir, and stream of consciousness – and deals with themes of grief, love, and the shared uncertainty of human existence. Thirsty Sea has been described as fractured yet dense, and the protagonist’s voice has been praised for its heady mix of guilt, defiance, and insecurity.
