About the Author
The author (born 1961) is an American journalist and the author of The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration (2010) and Caste: The Lies That Divide Us (2020). Her debut novel The Warmth won multiple awards, including the National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction. In 2016, President Barack Obama awarded her the National Humanities Medal for 'championing the stories of an unsung history.' She has taught at Princeton, Emory, and Boston Universities and has lectured at more than two hundred other colleges and universities across the United States and in Europe and Asia. She is also the winner of the Pulitzer Prize.
