Celebration of feasts and festivals is a manifestation of the religious life of the people. Most of the feasts and festivals of Goan Hindus and Christians are linked to each other. This is because of the fact that both come from the same ethnic stock. Religion occupies an important aspect of cultural life of the people. This book is based on original field work and an objective study of various aspects of folklore. About the Author
The author specialises in folklore studies, cultural anthropology and cultural history. Besides five books, he has several articles and research papers to his credit. He is the recipient of a couple of research fellowships and the prestigious State Cultural Award of the Government of Goa for his outstanding contribution to folk art and folklore studies. He is the Member Secretary of the State academy of art, Kala Academy, Goa.
