The Scout traces the journey of David Headley, son of a Pakistani aristocrat and an American mother who easily straddled both the Islamic and the western worlds. It is a tale of deception and deceit, of audacity and ingenuity and a detailed account of a man who coldly and systematically conducted a series of reconnaissance missions that perfected the deadliest terrorist attack ever on Indian soil and left some of Mumbai’s signature destinations scarred forever.

Set against the backdrop of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, which killed 173 people and wounded hundreds more, the book follows the trail of a drug addict turned trafficker and DEA informant who then joined the ranks of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, after being inspired by an LeT poster he saw in Pakistan appealing for funds to help take the jihad to India. From there he played a key role in orchestrating the 26/11 attacks.

Investigated by two professionals in the field of anti-terrorist operations, The Scout is a painstakingly researched and authentic account of the life and times of David Headley right until the time of his arrest whilst collaborating with the al-Qaeda and planning a public massacre in Denmark. Certainly, this human chameleon is worth a look: handsome, arrogant, his eyes mismatched—one blue and the other brown—as he fights for a life he has denied others.

The book includes previously unreleased documents, emails and pictures plus exclusive details which are guaranteed to fascinate everyone—from the lay reader to law enforcement and intelligence officials worldwide.
