Lamb investigates the rapes of an estimated quarter of a million Tutsi women during the Rwandan genocide; the devastating wake of an Argentinian junta; and life in the Middle East today, from the Yazidi women and children enslaved by ISIS to the 219 Nigerian schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram in 2014. Rape may be as old as war but it is a preventable crime. Lamb’s book demands that we recognise the horrific reality of what rape survivors, mostly women, have lived through. About the Author

The author is US editor for the Sunday Times. In 2009 she was awarded the prestigious Prix Bayeux Calvados for her reporting from Afghanistan. She won the Foreign Press Association Award for Story of the Year in 2007, and was also named Foreign Correspondent of the Year.

She has written numerous books including Farewell Kabul, The Africa House, Waiting for Allah, The Sewing Circles of Herat and House of Stone. She co-wrote the international bestseller I Am Malala with Malala Yousafzai and The Girl from Aleppo with Nujeen Mustata. She is an honorary fellow of University College, Oxford and was awarded an OBE in 2013.
