Part A called The Art and Science of Invention, discusses the impact of science and technology in our lives, how an inventor is different from a scientist, what makes an inventor tick and the process of invention.
Part B called the Great Inventors has short life sketches of twenty inventors, spanning over two centuries (18th to 20th) whose inventions/discoveries are taken for granted today.

About the Author
K.V. Gopalakrishnan retired as professor of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Madras after having taught for 40 years. He specialised in internal combustion engines, control of air pollution from these engines, and use of alternative fuels like alcohol.hydrogen, etc. He has over a hundred research papers to his credit, and several of his science articles have been published in newspapers and magazines. Prof. Gopalakrishnan has also authored many popular science books, three of which have been published by the NBT.
