Beautiful Women is a collection of the stories of ten women in the red-light area of Baina, Goa. They chose to exit commercial sexual exploitation by joining the alternative livelihood option provided at Swift Wash, a mechanized laundry unit in Goa set up expressly for this purpose.
The first-person narratives bring to light the social, psychological, physical and financial pressures that the women had to negotiate while in prostitution, and how life has changed after joining Swift Wash.
The book also records the journey of ARZ, an NGO that set up the Swift Wash laundry, and the lessons learnt from the experience.
