About the Author

Prosenjit Dasgupta, a graduate in Economics from Presidency College, has always been interested in tribal culture, and nature and wildlife. Over the years, he has written a few articles on wildlife, Calcutta and folk culture for newspapers and the “Sanctuary” magazine. His books include 10 Walks in Calcutta (2000), Tracking Jim (on Jim Corbett, the famous hunter, in 2005), Eco-Yatra (on economic change in India since 1947, published in 2010), Issues and Idioms (trends in political discourse in India, in 2012), A Confl ict in Thin Air(a comprehensive study of the Sino-Indian border conflict, in 2016), A Partition in the Mind (a discussion on factors leading to the Partition of India in 1947, in 2018), India – Searching for the Present in the Past (a study of present scenario in India in the context of the past, in 2020) and, recently, Travels Across Time (impressions of ancient historical sites, 2024). He lives in Kolkata and is currently researching on modern political history of India, besides pursuing his interests in travelling and wildlife.
